Fundraiser To Dress As Animals As He Completes 5 Marathons

More and more people are running marathons in fancy dress to raise money for good causes and to raise awareness of the charities they’re racing for, but one fundraiser is taking this to a whole new level.

Ian Sear, director of The Pet Show event in Staffordshire, is taking on five marathons in five days and he’ll be completing each one in a different animal costume. The only common theme is that they’re all pets, although he’s keeping quiet about which animals he’ll be dressing up as.

He’ll no doubt have a selection of animal tail costumes ready to go for his challenge, which will see him raising money for Smokey Paws, City Dogs Home and Animal Lifeline.

Mr Sear is taking on his five marathons between 30 June and 4 July, covering a total of 131 miles in the process.

City Dogs Home and Animal Lifeline are rescue and rehoming charities, while Smokey Paws raises money to provide special pet oxygen masks to the UK’s fire and rescue service.

Smokey Paws fundraiser Emma said: “We wish Ian all the very best of luck with this crazy challenge and we look forward to seeing his fancy dress efforts too.”

If you’re planning to run in any event, let alone take on five marathons, why not take a leaf out of Ian’s book and attempt it in fancy dress? We recently picked out some fun runs that are ideal if you want to dress up in a wolf costume to give you some inspiration to get you started.
